Let’s Go Over This One. More. Time.

postcardsfromspace:

You don’t get to choose how anyone else interacts or identifies with media, even when it’s media you care about. Even when it’s media you made.

You don’t get to choose what constitutes a “real” fan.

You don’t get to harass and name-call because people don’t interact with media you love in the same way you do.

If you do these things, you’re hurting your community. You’re hurting media and culture you claim to care about.

The geek community does not need ambassadors like you. Comics do not need ambassadors like you. Video games do not need ambassadors like you. Nothing needs ambassadors like you.

And no, cupcake, freedom of speech does not mean “getting to say whatever you want wherever you want without ever being taken to task for it.” Once you spill that shit in public, it becomes fair game. The same rules that cover your troll ass apply to the people who think you’re a douchebag.

We clear?

Why do we have to keep saying this? Get your fucking shit together, guys.

Hey there Big Daddy! While this might look like an exceptionally awesome BioShock cosplay outfit, this fantastic getup is a real-life Carmagnolle Diving Suit, an Atmospheric diving suit, from 1882. It’s Big Daddy’s great-great-great-granddaddy!

Try to imagine submerging yourself in deep, dark water while wearing this 830 pound, articulated suit of armour. According to Wikipedia: “the Carmagnole ADS never worked properly and its joints never were entirely waterproof.” Yikes.

This Week’s Brushes Doodle: Felicia Day as “Invisalingua”
So Felicia Day has a YouTube channel called, Geek and Sundry. On which, she has what is essentially a video blog called, The Flog. Last week, she made up a superhero for herself and encouraged viewers to draw said superhero, and submit their efforts on twitter. Where they are now being collected and placed on a Pintrest board (mines not there yet).
The superhero in question, “Invisalingua”- don’t look at me, Felicia named her- can speak all languages, turn invisible, and has a tiny male sidekick named Tiny Man. So since I’ve been trying to make myself draw something at least once a week anyway. I decided to make Felicia’s alter ego my art project for the week.
In case you’re curious: The “painting” itself, once again, was done using the Brushes app on my iPhone. Though this time around, I did have to employ a minor assist from Photoshop, for tiny man and the logo on her chest. Because, one of the downsides to illustrating something on a 3.5 inch touch screen, is the level of detail work you can do is kinda limited by pixel depth. Having giant man hands doesn’t help things much either. Seriously, the fingernails on her hands, for example, are literally 3-4 pixels wide. So, tiny man, perfect circles, and crisp lettering, just wasn’t happening.
