Regarding Fake Geek Guys…

I get mail!

Hey Wil,

Some of my reddit pals pointed me towards this post on your tumblr. That’s me!
I got a kick out of seeing my photos passed around, but it was a bit of a bummer to see all those shares and likes with no links back to me, as I happen to be working to promote a project at this very moment. In this case it’s music, and the added irony is that the song I’ve released ahead of my upcoming album, "Vincent van Gogh," is a tongue-in-cheek meditation on the frustrations of seeking fame in the internet age. There’s also a track on the record called "Narcissist" which seems rather apropos here.
So, my request: could you make a followup post — perhaps with this relevant photo of me — and throw in a link to my soundcloud, or one of my songs, or even my twitter? I’d be much obliged.
Credit where credit is due, I say!

I put this together to show people WHAT IS UP.

I’m missing something here….

Wait, what?

Dear Goddamn Kids Today: Reel Big Fish, No Doubt, and Sublime do not exist without The Specials, The Skatalites, and Madness.
So please shut the fuck up forever.
Love you mean it,
Grumpy Old Man Wheaton
PS- Sublime? Really? You think Sublime is a Ska band? No mention of Save Ferris? Stay away from sharp objects, kids.

Adele: Tiny Desk Concert

Also: The science behind why Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ makes everyone cry.

I’m not a big pop music kinda guy, so Adele didn’t land on my radar until last week. But the tiny desk concerts at NPR are seriously the best thing ever, and I watch all of them, so I finally got to really hear her sing for the first time just now. I love her voice, and I love how happy she is to be performing. If you’ve got 15 minutes to spare today, you may want to check this out.
